Anchorage Bowling Association
All-Star Team Selection Criteria

Bowlers report Form

Unofficial current standings

PURPOSE: To recognize Anchorage Bowling Association (ABA) members for outstanding performance during the previous bowling season by their selection to a Senior and/or a regular All-Star team. A total of five bowlers will be selected for each team, with the bowler earning the most points in both the senior and regular divisions being recognized as ABA Bowler(s) of the Year. The All-Star Teams will receive an entry into the Local Association Championship Tournament, paid for by the Anchorage Bowling Association. If any member of the All-Star Team is unable to participate, members in order of points earned will be given priority in filling any vacant spot.

Effective. The selection criteria and responsibilities are effective beginning with the selection of the 2003-2004 ABA All-Star Team.

Objective. To establish a correlation between All-Star points awarded, and the relative difficulty in earning All-Star points.

Eligibility. To be eligible for selection to an ABA All-Star team, the bowler must bowl a minimum of 48 games in a league sanctioned through the Anchorage Bowling Association. Seniors must be 55 years of age or over as of August 1

Responsibility. It is solely the bowler's responsibility to record and submit their scores and points earned to the Anchorage Bowling Association no later than September 1 following the season just completed. Incorrect or misleading finishes scores will disqualify the bowler from All-Star team consideration.

DEFINITIONS.

Major Tournament. Any event sanctioned by the American Bowling Congress and/or USA Bowling meeting any of the following criteria:
1) 30 or more individual entries in the Singles event
2) 20 or more two-player team (doubles) entries in the Doubles event
3) 15 or more five-player team entries in the Team event

Minor Tournament. Any event sanctioned by the American Bowling Congress and/or USA Bowling with 20 or more individual entries but less than the criteria of a Major Tournament.

Selection Criteria.

A. Points earned will be based on Scratch competition only.

B. In tournaments in which the same score(s) are used to determine standings in more than one event, points may be earned in only one event. For example, if a two-player or three-player event also includes singles prize(s) based on scores bowled during the two-player or three-player event, points may be earned in the singles event only. If singles prizes are awarded each day in a multi-day event, the combined total of all games for the entire event (excluding stepladder or finals games, if applicable) will determine the All-Star points earned. In no case may points be earned in the multi-player team event in which the tournament imposes a team average maximum.
